Wegovy® (semaglutide) is a prescription medication that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help adults with obesity or overweight, with or without weight-related medical conditions, lose weight and keep it off.
It is a once-weekly injection that works by increasing the amount of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in the body. GLP-1 helps to control appetite and regulate blood sugar levels. Wegovy® has been shown to be effective in helping people lose weight and keep it off.
In clinical trials, people who took Wegovy® lost an average of 14.9% of their starting weight over 56 weeks. This is compared to an average weight loss of 2.6% for people who took a placebo.
The amount of weight you can lose on Wegovy® can vary depending on individual factors, such as your starting weight, diet, and exercise habits. However, clinical trials have shown that Wegovy® can lead to significant weight loss.
In one clinical trial, participants who took Wegovy® lost an average of 12.4% of their starting body weight over 56 weeks. This is compared to an average weight loss of 2.4% for participants who took a placebo.
In another clinical trial, participants who took the maximum dose of Wegovy® lost an average of 17.5% of their starting body weight over 120 weeks. This is compared to an average weight loss of 2.5% for participants who took a placebo.

GLP-1s for most members with commercial insurance is typically around $25 per month after any deductible is met but, at times, and depending on plan, can be higher. Federal payors do not cover GLP-1 treatment at this time. The cost of the Sunrise program is not covered by insurance, however it is HSA/FSA eligible.
The medications that are a part of our platform are called GLP-1s, and are clinically-tested, stimulant-free, and non-habit forming. Side effects are extremely rare, and most individuals who take a GLP-1 do not experience any. For those who do, nausea is the most common, and this typically resolves over the first few weeks of being on the medication.
If you do experience any side effects, you’ll be able to reach out to your Medical Team directly for support. In the most recent clinical trials, less than 5% of people discontinued GLP-1 medications because of side effects.
